When Will Paul vs Tyson Take Place?
The Two Step Into AT&T Stadium For the First Time Ever
Paul vs Tyson will take place on November 25th, 2024, in the world-famous AT&T Stadium, which seats over 80,000 in attendance, potentially being the most attended fight for both of them.
The fight was originally scheduled to take place on July 20th, 2024, but it had to be postponed as Tyson was suffering health issues just weeks before it was scheduled.
It will be Mike's first professional boxing fight since June 11th, 2005, and it will be Jake's first-ever heavyweight fight. The fight was originally scheduled to be an exhibition bout, though Paul was able to get it sanctioned as a professional fight, though with some specific rules and restrictions.
How to Watch Paul vs Tyson in November
The Fight Will Be Streamed Exclusively on Netflix
It is currently unknown when the main event will start; however, considering the number of fights on the card, the ring walks should be expected at around midnight.
Viewers will only have to purchase a basic Netflix subscription which starts at $6.99/month, with no additional cost to watch the fight. Netflix is available in over 190 countries, and the fight will not be streamed on any other PPV platform.
Paul vs Tyson Fight: Unique Boxing Rules
Despite it being sanctioned as a professional bout, Paul vs Tyson does have some specific regulations, which are likely primarily due to Tyson's age and his inactivity for two decades.
Firstly, the fight will be eight rounds, which is extremely unorthodox with cards that have world title fights on the line. Jake has competed primarily in eight-round fights, so it is certainly a benefit for him.
Tyson, on the other hand, was a multiple-time World Heavyweight Champion, so he is stepping into somewhat unfamiliar territory, especially considering that his last eight-round fight was in 1986.
However, that's the lesser of the two major restrictions for this contest, as the rounds for the fight will only be two minutes long. The standard length for a professional mens boxing fight is three minutes long, so this rule was clearly established as there are concerns about Tyson's stamina.
Even though it's still listed as a pro fight, this was the smartest decision the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations could have made as it ensures that Tyson will be as safe as possible when he steps back into the ring.
Two World Title Matches on the Card
- Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson - 8 Rounds - Heavyweight
- Katie Taylor (C) vs Amanda Serrano - 10 Rounds - Lightweight (WBC, WBA, IFB, WBO, Ring)
- Mario Barrios (C) vs Abel Ramos - 12 Rounds - Welterweight (WBC)
- Neeraj Goyat vs Whindersson Nunes - 6 Rounds - Super Middleweight
- Shadasia Green vs Melinda Watpool - 10 Rounds - Super middleweight
- Lucas Bahdi vs Corey Marksman - 10 Rounds - Lightweight
- Bruce Carrington vs Dana Coolwell - 8 Rounds - Featherweight
Why This Fight is Being Heavily Criticized
Paul Refuses to Step in the Ring With Real Competition
Despite being arguably the biggest boxing fight of 2024, it's being highly critiqued by fans of the sport as well as media experts.
The main reason for this is that much of the boxing world does not consider Jake a real professional boxer. This is not primarily due to his skills, as he has been able to establish a record of 9-1, though that does play a part in it.
The main reasons this fight is being criticized are that Paul has refused to fight any pro boxers in his career so far, and, of course, due to Mike's age.
His first two boxing fights were against British Youtubers Deji and AnEson Gib, with the Gib bout being his first pro matchup. He then fought former NBA player Nate Robinson, who he was able to knock out in the second round.
After these three fights, he went on a rampage of fighting no one but former UFC fighters, as he was able to defeat Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Woodley again, and UFC legend Anderson Silva in four straight contests. However, although those were impressive showings, none of them were professional boxers.
He then fought a credited professional boxer for the first time in his career, Tommy Fury. Unfortunately, Jake lost that fight via split decision, which is still the only loss he has taken so far as a boxer. After that fight, he began fighting MMA fighters once more, and most recently defeated BKFC fighter Mike Perry.
With Tyson being nearly 60 years old and not having a pro bout in nearly two decades, it's fair to see why this fight is being critiqued by the internet. Jake continues to fight people that are old and no longer in their primes, and it doesn't matter whether they were one of the best, especially when it comes to someone who is in the status that Mike is in.
